My world was small when I was eight
and yet I did not know it—I thought it so large.
Siblings, parents and I started out
in a new Levittown just built;
We came from Trenton and before that Allentown;
before that I can’t recall but for what was told.
I grew up here but where is here?
We are 4 townships and unincorporated.
I lived here, worked here and retired here.
Like anywhere L-town evolves
and so do I.

Hello Alice: Did you just start this site? I just came across it thru your FB post on fruit trees, but i’ll be back to read more later. My family moved to Levittown in 1955 too. And i’m also writing a novel that opens there in the 1960s. Best—George

I did George about 10 years ago. My brother (Kevin) and I write on occasion and wanted a place to plop things. Kevin also started the Pens of Indigo site (https://www.pensofindigo.com) where Kevin and his daughter Kelly add publications plus a small piece I wrote. It is a family of writers site really but the L-town site has more traffic. Kevin’s novel ‘Snow Pictures’ while fictional, has a lot of coming of age background that came from Levittown. Everyone grew up somewhere and there are stories to tell. We grew up here in Levittown and we both just tell that story here and there. So yay! to your book George and Good Luck!

Great news, Alice, and good to be in touch. I’ll check out Kevin’s other site and read your posts and get back to you. As it turns out, I’ll be up in Bucks County March 29-April 1 visiting family & friends and doing a little more research–as always. Haven’t been back in about two years so looking forward to it. Best–G

Hello again, Alice: Meant to ask which schools you went to and when you graduated. I went to Fitch, Franklin & Wilson and graduated in 1965. Went to Temple and have been living and writing in Atlanta since 1973. Best–G If you don’t mind, please send me an email at george@hirthler.com so I can reach you more easily. Thx

I recommend Kevin’s novel, “Snow Pictures”, as well as his collection of essays, “A Patch of Light”…
